Dancer in the Dark [film recommendation]

A rare film by Bjork, the danish singer who is known for her innovative futuristic music. The film is a Danish musical drama film released in 2000. It was directed by Lars von Trier. Actually, it is not a musical entirely but there are these little musical numbers in the middle that reflect the innocence of Bjork’s character in the amid an emotionally brutal scene.

Dancer in the Dark premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the Palme d’Or, along with the Best Actress award for Björk. The song “I’ve Seen It All” was nominated for an Oscar for best song, at the performance of which Björk wore her famous swan dress”. wiki

Emotionally charged film with a heartbreaking story. It’s a must see if you are looking for a strong female performance that shatters every Hollywood actress out there from a singer who never acted and vowed to never act again after this film due to the emotional scars it left her.

The final moment of the film is one of the most jaw-droppingly amazing endings one will ever see on film.
